Former MMA Fighter Nate Quarry On Why He Chose MMA [Exclusive Video]

In uSports’ second video in a two-part sit down with legendary fighter Nate Quarry, he talks about his early life, how he got into MMA and even his post-fighting pursuits.

Nate’s background is absolutely fascinating: he grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness and did not attempt to play organized sports until his early 20s. But after seeing MMA on a television at a party, he was instantly hooked: but as his prominence grew in the sport, so did his age. When he was asked to be on UFC’s Ultimate Fighter reality show, Quarry was already in his early 30’s.

However, despite other contestants being younger than him, he never allowed his age to become a problem: “My age never affected me in my mind or in my delivery. To me I always was going to do the best that I could with whatever I have. And even on days when I was completely beaten down I developed a saying, “I give a 100 percent every single time, every single practice, every single fight.””

To get more insight, check out the first video about his UFC lawsuit with Cung Le and Jon Fitch.
