According to the Virginia State Police website, a missing persons bulletin was issued for Turner, who disappeared from Wise County.

On November 22, authorities announced that an active search for the coach was underway.

The family’s lawyer said that Turner was last seen leaving his home with a gun.

“It is the family’s prayer that Travis is safe and will have the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law,” the lawyer said.

A staff member for the Wise County School was placed on leave, according to district officials.

On Facebook, the United States Marshals Service announced that it will offer a $5,000 reward for information on Turner.

Turner and the Union High School team were undefeated this season, which left the community wondering why he disappeared.

The football team is currently in the state’s semifinals. The game will be on December 6 against the Glenvar High School football team.
