After being arrested outside of the Florida airport and finding “relief” in his mugshot being released, the family of Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Andrew Toles now say that “we need to bring him home.”
Toles was arrested last week in Florida after being found sleeping outside of an airport and then refusing to leave. Following the release of his mugshot, Toles’ family told USA Today that “it’s really crazy to say, but the mug shot, really, was the best thing ever. We didn’t know whether he was dead or alive.”
Toles has had a history in recent months of spending time behind bars as he was arrested in Kentucky a few weeks ago and was also arrested in Hong Kong over the winter for stealing food, leading to the U.S. Embassy to help get him back to the states.
Toles’ sister Morgan Toles noted that she is worried about her brother and that she has not seen him in a long time. “The last time I saw my brother, I don’t even know. I haven’t heard his voice in, Lord knows how long. The only difference in my brother and the homeless walking the streets in LA is that he made money. That’s it. We want to help him so badly. We are doing everything we can.”

Alvin Toles, Toles’ father echoed similar sentiments to his daughter, saying that he wants to get his son home. “You cry every day, you pray every day. It’s a relief that you know he’s alive. And now there’s no need to hide anything. Everyone now knows he has a mental illness. Maybe this is how God meant for this to end. Now people know. People are reaching out and asking how to help. We just need to find him. We need to bring him home. But he keeps running. He’s in this state of paranoia. He’s running from people. He just keeps running like someone is after him.”
Toles’ family has been trying to get in contact with Major League Baseball to provide help for Andrew.
