Falcons’ Jalon Walker Done For The Season After ACL Tear In Camp

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Jalon Walker will miss the entire 2026 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during a training camp practice, a significant setback for a defense that had been counting on him as a starter.

Walker was carted off the practice field Tuesday following the injury, and imaging afterward confirmed the ACL tear. The 2025 first-round pick out of Georgia, selected 15th overall, had been expected to anchor the Falcons’ defensive front this season after a productive rookie campaign in which he racked up 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. The team confirmed the season-ending diagnosis and offered a brief message of support on social media, writing, “We’re with you, 11. Get well soon.”

Teammates were quick to speak to Walker’s importance within the locker room. Offensive tackle Jake Matthews called him one of the defense’s clear leaders, someone who set an example through his play rather than just his words. “That’s the worst part of this game, seeing stuff like that,” Matthews said, adding that he expects Walker to return fully recovered and back to form once healed.

The injury compounds a rough stretch for Atlanta’s 2025 first-round defensive class. Walker was one of two pass rushers the Falcons selected in that year’s opening round, alongside James Pearce, who has faced separate off-field legal issues stemming from an alleged domestic dispute in Florida and was recently approved for a pretrial diversion program.

With Walker now sidelined for the year, Atlanta’s coaching staff will need to lean more heavily on its remaining defensive personnel to fill the void left by one of the unit’s most promising young players heading into the season.
