Fake Tweet Claiming Colin Kaepernick Was Drafted By Jets Sets Off NFL Social Media Frenzy

Activist and former starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick has been looking for work ever since he rose to fame for kneeling during the national anthem before a game. After a highly publicized workout in front of some of the league’s coaches and scouts, Kaepernick did not have any luck getting hired – until the Jets signed him on a 1 year, $9 million contract… Or did they?

On Thursday, a fake tweet by SuperToughScene, disguising themselves as Bleacher Report, had fans in a tizzy as the NFL world thought Kaepernick had finally landed a job. The tweet sites ESPN and even insider, Adam Schefter as sources.

While this trickery was debunked by other NFL reporters and analysts on social media, real NFL fans know that Kap and the league are not on the best terms as of late, and it would be far more publicized if he truly did land a spot on someone’s depth chart.

Kaepernick has not played a down in three seasons.

SLIDESHOW: 50 GREAT SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2019

Back in 2017, Kap said, “to me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Around the time of his workout, the Jets were one of the teams in the mix that could have worked as a landing spot. The Steelers were also rumored to be thinking about taking chance on the veteran QB, unfortunately, nothing came of those whispers.

Back in his prime as the starting gunslinger for the 49ers, Kaepernick set the league record for the most rushing yards by a QB in a single game, as well as most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single postseason run.

Kaepernick remains an active face of justice in America, evidenced by his Nike campaign back in 2019.
