Former Houston Rockets point guard Steve Francis has landed himself in further trouble with the law following his recent DWI arrest in Houston.

Ex-NBA All-Star Steve Francis Booked Into Florida Jail

According to a report from TMZ.com, Francis was arrested in Manatee, Florida, after allegedly stealing over $7,000 in items from a stranger’s car this past June.

The police report from that incident stated that a woman at a restaurant left her car door unlocked and while she was inside, Francis, 39, asked a bartender for help finding his keys.

“The bartender went and got a flashlight and went outside and held the flashlight while Steve Francis moved my seats back and forth, stripped the inside of my car of everything, and broke into my lock box,” the woman said when speaking to Eyewitness News.

Should he be convicted of a burglary on an unoccupied conveyance charge, Francis could face up to five years in prison as that crime is considered to be a third degree felony.

Francis, a former Maryland Terrapins star, bonded out of Harris County, Texas jail in November for charges of DWI and retaliation, after prosecutors say he threatened to assault a Houston-area deputy during a traffic stop. Online jail records show he was released on $5,500 bond.

KHOU-TV reports that when Francis was pulled over in Harris County for speeding, the deputy smelled alcohol and Francis became belligerent. The report says more deputies were summoned to the scene and Francis was arrested, although no deputies were assaulted.

Francis played in the NBA for 11 seasons, including seven with the Rockets.
