ESPN has settled a sexual harassment claim brought against studio host Chris Berman by former network makeup artist Sue Baumann, according to Jason McIntyre from the Big Lead. The claim surfaced after “comments [Berman] allegedly made in the makeup room and text messages going back a few years,” according to McIntyre. However, an internal inquiry by ESPN revealed no wrongdoing on Berman’s part.
“Our thorough investigation revealed the harassment claims had no merit,” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said, according to McIntyre. “We settled it solely to save a considerable amount of time and litigation costs.”
Berman has been a longtime member of ESPN’s NFL coverage, almost since its inception back in 1979. He is most known for hosting Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown.
