Eagles Player Josh Sills Indicted On Rape, Kidnapping Charges In Ohio

Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Josh Sills has been indicted in Ohio on first-degree felony rape and kidnapping charges. In an incident that occurred in December 2019, Sills is accused of forcing a woman to perform oral sex on him and refusing to release her until she did so.

The 25-year-old Ohio native was indicted by a grand jury in the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court, and the Ohio attorney general’s office announced his indictment Wednesday. He will be summoned to appear in court on Feb. 16.

“Sills engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement. “The crime was immediately reported, and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted a detailed investigation.

Following an extensive investigation, police reports accuse Sills of forcing a woman to perform oral sex “for 20 minutes” while physically restraining her, removing her pants and groping her. He also allegedly told her that he would not allow her to leave until she had performed the act.

The incident was reported to the Sheriff’s office in Guernsey County soon after it took place, allowing investigators to thoroughly look into the matter. The attorney general’s office also said that the “Special Prosecutions Section” would be prosecuting the case.

The NFL has barred Sills from competing for the Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Feb. 12. The rookie offensive lineman has served in a backup role for Philadelphia all season, making one regular season appearance in October. He played college football at Oklahoma State and West Virginia University.

The Eagles released a statement following the attorney general’s announcement, expressing an intent to monitor the situation closely.

“The organization is aware of the legal matter involving Josh Sills,” the Eagles statement said. “We have been in communication with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.”
