Although the Green Bay Packers were dominating in the first half with their running, passing and defense, the Philadelphia Eagles got a much needed morale boost going into week 5 as they won by a touchdown, 34-27, in dramatic fashion.
Showing a few flashes in their offense early on by Carson Wentz and running back Miles Sanders, Packers defense was able to stop any momentum and take it the other way to start the second quarter ahead 10-0. But the Eagles would come back the second quarter quickly setting up a passing touchdown to Alshon Jeffrey to start the quarter. After a field goal by Green Bay, the Eagles got a couple of breaks on penalties that led them quickly to the 35 yard line. A quick pass to Dallas Goedert for a touchdown made it 14-13. Then a fumble by Aaron Rodgers forced by Eagles Derek Barnett got the ball back to the Eagles in the red zone. The Eagles scored on a running play after that.
Rodgers was not done, as he showed his ankle injury from last season is not a factor, running for first downs and passing his way to a touchdown to Geronimo Allison. Rodgers led the team with 46 yards rushing. It was all gun slinging from both Wentz and Rodgers for the rest of the quarter as they answered one another touchdown for touchdown – 21-20 Eagles at the half.

The third quarter saw one of the best scoring drives from Rodgers I have ever seen. Almost taken down, he zig zagged his way up the middle to get the first down on first and ten. Then he came out of the pocket, scrambled to the right, and threw a needle between two defenders on the run while being chased. Then he threw a few in the pocket, only to drop the ball into coverage to Jimmi Graham on the right hand corner of the field for a touchdown. Its was 27-27 headed to the fourth.
The Eagles relied on their running game of Sanders and Jordan Howard to get what would be the final score of the game. The defense would do the rest for Philadelphia. Rodgers got into the end zone four times, only to have each pass knocked out by a safety each time. The Packers had to take a risk on fourth down and turned, which resulted in a turn over on downs at the four yard line.
With 30 seconds to go, and inside the ten yard line, Rodgers’ pass was picked off in the end zone by Phillie’s Nigel Bradham to seal the win.
The Eagles are now 2-2, handing the Packers their first loss of the year, putting them at 3-1.
The Eagles play the New York Jets and the Packers play the Cowboys on Sunday, October 6. Both the Jets and the Cowboys have a game this Sunday first.
