It appears that the Dez Bryant contract drama has officially become serious, with the receiver tweeting out that he will, in fact, miss time if a deal is not finished before Wednesday’s 4 pm deadline.
Originally, many people believed that Dez Bryant’s threats were groundless, as no one expected him to miss time or lose out on millions to prove a point. He even undermined his initial threat when he attended OTAs: at that time, a stalemate killed contract talks between the two parties.
However, since the Cowboys have failed to offer him a deal, he felt it necessary to reiterate this point. Last week, he called Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones and gave him this ultimatum, according to ESPN’s sources. And the tweet was the receiver’s way of communicating his feelings to Dallas’ fans.

Dez Bryant is also aware that the franchise tag, which would pay him $12.8 million for 2015, was accepted by the NFLPA at the last negotiation, but he feels that he has established himself as a top receiver and thus should be paid like one.
Over the last five seasons, Bryant had 5,424 receiving yards, 56 touchdowns — 16 came last season, which led the league — and 381 receptions. Essentially, he is a vital piece of Tony Romo’s offense and will be sorely missed if absent.
