Former teammates Derek Fisher, head coach of the New York Knicks, and Matt Barnes, forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, got into an altercation Saturday when Barnes was told that Fisher (pictured) was seeing Barnes’ estranged wife and Basketball Wives LA star Gloria Govan.
Barnes heard about the pair seeing each other when his children called him to say that Fisher was at the house that the pair used to share and that they were enjoying a bonfire outside the house. Barnes then left the Grizzlies’ California training camp to drive 95 miles to confront Fisher, saying that “he beat the s–t of him.” Cops were called but Fisher left before they were on the scene. Barnes may have exaggerated the story since Fisher didn’t look like he had a scratch during a press conference before a Knicks preseason game.
What is puzzling about this story is the way Fisher left Knicks training camp that day when he had stated that he was leaving for “personal reasons” yet he was going to see Govan. Another odd event is that Monday he had left training camp again for the same reason, leaving the Knicks players behind in practice. Both the NBA and the Knicks have yet to comment on the situation but are investigating the altercation.
