The Denver Broncos have canceled Friday’s practice and instead, will be meeting virtually instead.
On Friday morning, the team was told of positive tests from one player and two staff members who tested positive for COVID-19. Wide receiver Diontae Spencer was the player who tested positive Friday morning.
This comes right after their quarterback Jeff Driskel was added to the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. It is still unknown if Driskel was added because he had tested positive or because he was in close contact with someone who has. The NFL allowed Denver to practice on Thanksgiving after clearing them.
Coach Vic Fangio dismissed any concerns for any additional positive tests that may come up. Fangio said, “No, the other quarterbacks were only on their minimal amounts [as contact traces with Driskel], like two minutes and some seconds, four minutes. That’s over a three- or four-day period. They thoroughly checked those guys that were on the two minutes, three minutes, four minutes, and they came back and said nobody else needs to go on the list and they cleared us to have normal activities and normal practice [Thursday].”

This is not the first time the Broncos had to cancel practice because of positive tests. The first time was in late October after Graham Glasgow tested positive. The second time was earlier this month after defensive end Shelby Harris tested positive. In addition, defensive coordinator Ed Donatell had missed the previous four games and was hospitalized. Coaches Curtis Modkins and offensive line coach Mike Munchak missed time after testing positive.
