After football star Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for COVID-19, the Italian Sports Minister
claimed that the player broke health protocols.
Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora claimed that Ronaldo broke the rules after traveling from Portugal to Italy in an air ambulance and therefore not following social distancing protocols.
In response, Ronaldo claimed during an Instagram live video, that he did not have contact with anyone while traveling back to Italy. The player said he “did everything properly” and that everything that was said otherwise about the matter is not true.
Ronaldo is currently in quarantine in his house in Turin after he tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with the Portugal national team. He claims that he is doing well and is experiencing no symptoms. The player also claimed that he is looking forward to going back to training and enjoying his life.

Spadafora later replied to Ronaldo’s claims. “The fame and skill of certain players does not entitle them to be arrogant, disrespectful to the institutions and to lie,” he said.
Ronaldo has already missed Juventus’ Serie A fixture against Crotone, which ended with a draw. The player will also miss Juventus’ upcoming Champions League fixture against Dynamo Kyiv and possibly against FC Barcelona.
In addition to Ronaldo, Juventus and USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie recently tested positive for COVID-19. McKennie is currently isolated and is also expected to miss some of Juventus’ upcoming fixtures.
Juventus released a public statement that claims, “In compliance with the regulations and the protocol, the team entered into fiduciary isolation this evening”. Also, the statement claims that players who are not positive for COVID-19 will participate in training sessions and fixtures.
