Cowboys’ Owner Jerry Jones Lashes Out At Media After Detroit Lions Blowout Loss: ‘I’m Sick About What Happened!’

Dallas Cowboys Owner/General Manager/President Jerry Jones went on a media tirade after the blow-out loss to the Detroit Lions and Monday on a Dallas radio station.

For those that missed, the Cowboys fell behind by more than three touchdowns at home for the third time in their first six weeks of the season. The Lions blew the doors off their in-conference rival, leaving Big D with a 47-9, the second time the Cowboys allowed 40 points or more this season. Through six weeks, they do not possess the talent of the other rosters in the NFC and look to be losing hold over the NFC East with the surging Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles. After the game, Jones met with the media and did not pull any punches.

“This was very concerning, and it was very humbling, and I felt bad because of all of our great fans, and especially the ones at the stadium, and certainly the ones that are all about the Cowboys. So we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Jones said. “I’m glad we got this bye week coming up here. It’ll give everybody an opportunity to get out and actually practice. Practice what it is that takes you to be more successful than a game like this. This was a shocker.”

The next day, he scorched Earth on a radio station.

“You really think you’re going to sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong and without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.”

Jones turned 82 on Sunday, the day of the loss. Not a very happy birthday for him.
