Cowboys’ Marquez White Shares Instagram Post About 2017 ‘Road Rage Incident’ That Led To Gun Charge, Arrest

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Marquez White took to Instagram on Monday to describe in detail a “road rage” incident that allegedly happened in Texas on Oct. 20, 2017 that led to his arrest for aggravated assault with a weapon on June 15.

Cowboys CB Marquez White Shares 2017 Road Rage Incident

During the incident, 23-year-old White said he felt his “life was threatened,” therefore he believed it necessary to use his gun. White explained that on that evening, he was exiting a highway in Texas when an “aggressive driver” started tailing him after White cut him off to avoid crashing into a divider wall and merge off safely. The cornerback then alleged that the other driver ended up beside him and went on to yell racial slurs at him and issue death threats toward him.

White then said he drew his weapon after he saw the other motorist reach into his glove compartment. The other man reportedly followed White to his house and called the police as the Cowboys player waited inside his home.

The cornerback then said authorities arrived and the driver admitted to tailing him but denied having made any disparaging or threatening comments toward him. Police told White and the other man that day that neither of them would be arrested.

White said that eight months later, during a Cowboys practice in June, he learned about a warrant for his arrest on a second-degree felony charge related to the incident. The cornerback claimed that the person who verbally attacked him “has an extensive criminal background” and that he “changed and added things to his story multiple times.”

White — who allegedly shared a similar statement with his local Alabama newspaper, the Dothan Eagle.

“Straight from the source…Racism is still alive and well,” White captioned his Instagram post. “No further comments will be made at this time (also there was never any dialogue from me at any point).”

According to local news station FOX4 News Dallas-Fort Worth, White’s weapon was legally owned. The Cowboys drafted White in 2017 as a sixth-round pick out of Florida State.
