The Browns experienced a quarterback carousel last season as Deshaun Watson was sidelined due to a wrist injury in Week 4 – Dorian Thompson-Robinson started the remainder of that game. P.J. Walker then got the nod for the next three games, winning his first start against the 49ers in Week 6.

Watson made a one-game return for week 10 to lead the Browns to a 33-31 victory over the rival Ravens. Thompson-Robison got back into action for Week 11 but underwent concussion protocol the next week, leading Walker to start.

Former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco took over from Week 13 to Week 17, winning four out of five games to get Cleveland to an 11-5 record with a playoff berth. Week 18 saw Jeff Driskel play as the Browns rested starters for the playoffs.

The Houston Texans defeated the Browns in the wildcard 45-14.

Cleveland traded for former Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy on March 13 to complement Amari Cooper and Elijiah Moore. Devin Bush Jr. was acquired in free agency to replace Sione Takitaki and Anthony Walker Jr.

Cleveland selected six players in the 2024’s draft since they traded their first and fourth-rounders, in addition to ridding a fifth, two sixths and a seventh-round pick. A notable selection was defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. from Ohio State. Cleveland’s draft was centered around bolstering depth on both sides of the ball, and they did that by taking Jamari Thrash and Myles Harden.

With Watson suiting up this season, the Browns will attempt to fight for the playoffs. Cleveland’s first half has games that are winnable and some that could go either way – these matchups include the first game against the Dallas Cowboys, a Week 2 visit to TIAA Bank Field to play the Jaguars, Las Vegas in Week 4, Philadelphia in Week 6, in addition to matchups between rivals Cincinnati and Baltimore. These are games that the Browns could surprise in at least one.

Other notable games include the Chargers in Week 9, two meetings with the rival Steelers, a week 15 affair with defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs and a primetime game with the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.

Cleveland’s record will depend on whether Watson holds strong, how big of an impact Jeudy will have on the receiving core and if the defense holds strong.
