Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill Under Investigation For Alleged Domestic Assault, Child Abuse

After one season marred by a scandal, it looks like the 2019 season will be the same way for the Kansas City Chiefs. When running back Kareem Hunt was signed by the Cleveland Browns, the main argument for it was that his former teammate Tyreek Hill had rehabilitated himself after reportedly punching and choking his now fiancee, Crystal Espinal, who was then eight weeks pregnant with their son, on Dec. 11, 2014.

Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill Accused Of Battery

Hill, 25, was arrested and dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team. He then pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation in August 2015 before being selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft in 2016. That argument is worthless now.

According to the Johnson County, Kansas District Attorney’s office, Hill has been involved in an investigation of a battery incident that lists a juvenile as the victim. Espinal is listed under “others involved.”

It’s unclear exactly where the incident occurred but the location is listed as the home shared by Hill and Espinal. The Chiefs are aware of a law enforcement investigation involving Hill.

The Kansas City Star reported that a source familiar with the situation said that “the incident was against the couple’s 3-year-old son, resulting in a broken arm.” The police department and district attorney’s office have declined to discuss the details of the case.
In a written statement, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said his office “has received numerous requests for information about the Overland Park Police Department’s investigation of allegations regarding Tyreek Hill.”
“While we understand the public’s concern, the investigation is still ongoing,” he added. “It would be irresponsible to make definitive ‘official’ statements before the investigation is complete.”
As of Monday morning, Hill had not been charged with a crime.
The 25-year-old is one of the Chiefs’ franchise players. The two sides have been in discussions about a contract that would compensate him in line with some of the league’s elite talents.
