The Boston Celtics have lost two of their main stars following their 129-119 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Sunday night.
The injury occurred when All-Stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum collided with one another. The collision occurred in the fourth quarter with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Portland inbounded the ball to Norman Powell, Brown came in and attempted to deflect the ball, but Tatum arrived to force a trap on the sideline. However, both players collided with one another. The two players’ legs were tangled with one another because of the awkward collision.
It appeared that both All-Stars rolled their ankles and stayed down for a brief time before leaving to the locker room. Brown appeared to have gotten the worst of it as he was leaning on his teammates for support. The extent of the injury is unknown, but Tatum was positive about it.
“We just collided and I guess he stepped on my foot and he fell on my leg,” Tatum said in the post-game conference. “But (I) should be all right, we’ll see after tomorrow. I was able to walk off the court by myself, so that’s a good sign. I hope (Jaylen’s) all right.”
