Jaylen Brown head injury news

Brown leaped for a dunk late in the third quarter and hung on to the rim for a second too long, which caused him to land on his neck and head. Though a  stretcher was brought out for precaution, he ultimately walked off on his own.

The 21-year-old did not return and was evaluated for concussion-like symptoms. The Celtics won 117-109, although they were still concerned over Brown’s status by the end of the night.

“Appreciate everybody I’m ok…” he wrote. “Got a headache tho good team win!!”

Brown amazed in his rookie season last year, but has struggled much more this season. The former California Golden Bears star was averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game entering Thursday’s game.

Kyrie Irving returned from a one-game absence to finish with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists on Thursday and help the Celtics clinch a playoff berth. Horford added 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Boston (46-20) is second in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics next host Indiana on Sunday night.
