Bucks Trade Tyler Ennis To Rockets For Michael Beasley

The Houston Rockets traded forward Michael Beasley to the Milwaukee Bucks for guard Tyler Ennis on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported.

Bucks Trade Tyler Ennis To Rockets For Michael Beasley

The deal comes merely one day after it was revealed that Bucks guard Khris Middleton, who averaged a career-high 18.2 points per game last season, is expected to miss six months due to a torn left hamstring. Middleton suffered the injury during a preseason workout. He will undergo surgery next week.

The 6-foot-9, 27-year-old Beasley was signed by the Rockets late last season from the Shandong Golden Stars of the Chinese Basketball League. In 20 games with Houston, Beasley averaged 12.8 points over 18.2 minutes per game.

“We’re excited to add a player with Michael’s skill set to our team,” Bucks general manager John Hammond said in a statement. “He’s someone that we’ve kept our eye on the last few seasons and we’re looking forward to watching him compete throughout training camp and the season.”

Beasley has averaged 13.0 points and 4.8 rebounds over eight NBA seasons that also included stints with the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Phoenix Suns. He was selected as the second overall pick out of Kansas State by the Heat in 2008, although he never achieved the stardom many expected for him in the NBA.

Ennis, a 6-foot-3 2014 first-round draft pick (18th overall) of the Suns, was traded to the Bucks last season as part of a three-team deal that also involved guard Brandon Knight.

The 22-year-old played in 46 games with seven starts last season, averaging 4.5 points and 2.1 assists per game.

The Rockets begin training camp on Saturday, while the Bucks start next week.
