Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Sets Franchise Scoring Record In Win Over Nets

Bucks superstar and MVP favorite Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 44 points Thursday night to lead Milwaukee past Brooklyn 120-119 in overtime, and, in doing so, he became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.

The “Greek Freak” needed 40 to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (14,211) on the team’s scoring list; he broke the mark on a three-pointer to tie the game with 18 seconds left in regulation.

Antetokounmpo, who shot 14-of-21, added 14 boards, six assists, and a steal. He’s also the franchise leader in blocks and second in assists and rebounds.

The Bucks are 48–28 and hold the second spot in the Eastern Conference standings—just a half-game behind the Heat.

Kevin Durant had a chance to win it on a last-second three-pointer, but his shot clanked off the rim. The Nets (40-37) fell into a three-way tie with the Hawks and Hornets for the eighth seed in the East.
