Phoenix Suns’ Brandon Knight Crosses Over Lakers’ Marcelo Huertas

With his first career triple double on Nov. 16, Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight joined some rare company.

He contributed 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists in a 120-101 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, and is one of only four players to record a triple double with at least 30 points, 15 assists, 10 rebounds and four steals. The three others? Pete Maravich, Magic Johnson and Russell Westbrook. It was a great turnaround for Knight, who had just come off of a eight turnover game.

Knight’s game has developed well after stints with the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks. Thanks to last night’s triple double, he’s averaging 20.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Yet it’s one play that has everyone talking. With the Suns up by two in the second quarter, Knight unleashed a vicious crossover on Lakers guard Marcelo Huertas. Huertas was more than fooled; he staggered around in a circle, only for Knight to calmly collect himself and shoot an easy three.

It’s the latest embarrassment for the Lakers, who are only 2-9 on the season and have been worked by the Suns recently. Phoenix has won nine of the last ten against the Lakers. It’s also not the first time for the 32-year-old-rookie Huertas to make the lowlight reel; he had a hilarious no-look over the shoulder attempt at avoiding a shot-clock violation in a game against the Miami Heat a week ago.

And that was hammered home by Huertas, staggering around like an extra on The Walking Dead, as Knight steps back for an easy three.
