Bills Trade LT Cordy Glenn To Bengals; Teams Swap 2018 First-Round Picks

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to trade left tackle Cordy Glenn to the Cincinnati Bengals.

As part of the deal, the teams will exchange first-round picks: Buffalo will receive the No. 12 overall selection, while Cincinnati will get the No. 21 overall. The Bengals also receive the Bills’ fifth-round pick, and the Bills get the Bengals’ sixth-round pick.

All NFL trades will become official after 4pm EST on Wednesday, when the new league year begins. On Friday, the Bills agreed to trade quarterback Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 65 pick, which means Buffalo will more than likely seek to draft a quarterback this year.

Glenn, 28, was limited to six games in 2017 due to several injuries, (mainly foot and ankle) and hasn’t played a full season since 2015.

Cincinnati has struggled at tackle since longtime player Andrew Whitworth signed with the Los Angeles Rams in free agency last year. The Bengals have been non-committal about picking up the fifth-year option of 2015 first-round pick Cedric Ogbuehi. Right tackle Jake Fisher ended his 2017 season early due to a heart condition, but will reportedly be ready to return next season.

Without Glenn, Buffalo is expected to start 2017 second-round pick Dion Dawkins at left tackle. Dawkins started 11 games last season as a rookie.

The Bills will save $4.85 million of Glenn’s $14.45 million salary cap in 2018, provided the trade is completed before Glenn is due a $2 million roster bonus on Sunday.

Buffalo signed Glenn to a five-year, $65 million extension after assigning him the franchise tag during the 2016 offseason. The team’s 2012 second-round pick missed three games due to a back injury in 2016.

In other major NFL news announced Thursday, free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings that includes approximately $86 million guaranteed.
