Bills QB Josh Allen Responds To Jaguars’ Jalen Ramsey Calling Him ‘Trash:’ ‘It Doesn’t Bother Me’

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey mercilessly criticized several NFL quarterbacks on Wednesday, and one of his victims — Buffalo Bills rookie Josh Allen — decided to respond.

Jaguars’ Jalen Ramsey Calls Bills’ Josh Allen ‘Trash’

Ramsey called Allen — the seventh overall pick out of Wyoming in this year’s draft — “trash” in an interview with GQ, but Allen didn’t seem perturbed by this.

“He’s not on my team, he’s not my teammate,” Allen said of Ramsey, according to Bills beat and sideline reporter Sal Capaccio. “It doesn’t bother me.”

Allen was not the only quarterback 23-year-old Ramsey ripped into, however. The third-year cornerback also said Baltimore’s Joe Flacco “sucks” and called Atlanta’s Matt Ryan “overrated.” Ramsey also said Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger is “decent at best.”

So exactly who does Ramsey think are solid NFL quarterbacks? He cited the Tennessee Titans’ Marcus Mariota and Tyrod Taylor — who was recently traded to the Cleveland Browns — as good passers.

Ramsey clearly has some nerve to call out so many veteran quarterbacks. The Jaguars cornerback — who was the fifth overall draft pick out of Florida State in 2016 — could also feel arrogant because of his long list of accomplishments in college and because his first NFL seasons was fairly successful. Ramsey was named to last year’s Pro Bowl, and as of 2017 has recorded 128 tackles, six interceptions, one touchdown and zero sacks.

Ramsey was a BCS national champion in 2013, a two-time ACC champion and was also a second-team All-American. Still, he will have to prove this season that he can easily beat all these veterans. Plus, NFL Research suggested in a tweet that Ramsey’s comments may not be totally accurate, as he performed worse last season against the quarterbacks he said were terrible:

In his interview with GQ, Ramsey also discussed other topics like Colin Kaepernick‘s national anthem protests and also mocked the Browns when asked about Jacksonville’s hopes for this season.

“Every year is Super Bowl or bust, really,” Ramsey told the magazine. “I mean, I guess if you’re the Browns, you’re shooting for a win. Or a few wins, at least. But everybody else, you got to be shooting for the Super Bowl.”

The Jaguars finished last season 10-6 and reached their first AFC Championship Game (where they played against the New England Patriots) since 1999. So perhaps Jacksonville has a shot at reaching the Super Bowl next year if they continue playing more or less the same way.
