Bills’ LeSean McCoy Shuts Down Questions About Chip Kelly

Buffalo Bills’ LeSean McCoy spoke to the media for the first time since his comments about Chip Kelly. And though it is such a popular topic, the running back did not want to talk about the coach, his remarks or the Philadelphia Eagles.

LeSean McCoy Shuts Down Questions About Chip Kelly

The whole issue started when the newly traded LeSean McCoy was interviewed by ESPN: The Magazine. During the piece, he talked a bit about the trade and Coach Kelly’s habits: “He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That’s the truth. There’s a reason… It’s hard to explain with him. But there’s a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.”

Since then, there have been countless articles written about Kelly and McCoy, but last week the coach finally responded to the running back’s comment. “I think he’s wrong,” Chip stated. “We put a lot of time looking into character and factors that go into selection and retention of players. Color’s never been one of them.”

“It doesn’t hurt me,” Kelly continued. “I’m not governed by the fear of what other people say. Events don’t elicit feelings. Beliefs elicit feeling. I understand what my beliefs are and I know how I am.”

On top of this, the Eagles’ coach talked about how he has reached out to LeSean and his agent multiple times and McCoy did not respond. As a result, the first time the superstar came back to the podium, he was bombarded by Chip Kelly questions.

However, McCoy refused to answer anything about his former coach and the Eagles. “I don’t have to explain myself to nobody,” McCoy said when asked to clarify his previous statement. “Nobody. I don’t. I said what I said, said what I felt at the time and I’m done with that.”

After being further pressed by the media, he pulled a Marshawn Lynch and almost walked away from the session. “Are y’all listening to me? Can I say it any other way? I’m not talking about Chip Kelly or no Eagles. So I’ll be done with this interview if nobody else has anything to say about the Bills.”

Now, he did answer a question about whether he regretted his comments, which was a resounding no: “I never regret nothing I say. Never. Nothing I do. Never regret it.”

Just mark off Dec. 13, when McCoy returns to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.
