Major League Baseball has reportedly reached an agreement with Under Armour to be the exclusive uniform provider beginning in the 2020 season, according to Terry Lefton of Sports Business Daily.
Starting in 2020, MLB’s uniforms will no longer be manufactured by Majestic– as they have been since 2005.
The agreement would mark Under Armour’s first uniform deal with a major U.S. sports league.
Although the jerseys will be made for in-game use, Fanatics–he nation’s largest seller of online sports gear, which already runs the online MLB Shop — will have the rights to other apparel.

Here is Lefton’s report:
“In what would mark a significant shake up in MLB’s licensing business, Fanatics and Under Armour have quietly completed a deal that will see them team to produce UA-branded on-field jerseys starting with the ’20 season. The deal would mean the end of MLB’s longtime licensing relationship with both Nike and Majestic Athletic.”
Of course, some of the questions that remain concerning this new deal are: firstly, how much input will Under Armour have on future jersey designs? And secondly, how obtrusive will Under Armour’s logo be on the jerseys?
New Era will continue to provide hats for the league.
An official announcement is expected to come following the World Series.
Under Armour was a bidder to pick up the official NBA uniform rights deal, which begins next year and was ultimately won by Nike. Nike had rights to have its product on the under layer under the MLB jersey, although they will be out with the new deal, sources stated.
The sportswear giant also has a deal with the NFL, which provides that its workout gear will be worn by players at the NFL Combine every year.
