Anthony Bosch, Founder of Biogenesis, Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Today, the U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles has handed Anthony Bosch a four year prison sentence for his role in Biogenesis. The former Florida clinic owner, who became headline news when he admitted to providing PEDs to MLB players and other athletes, will also have three years of supervised release post-jail time.

According to ESPN, after Bosh pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy to distribute steroids, his attorney was hoping for a lighter sentence : especially since he has fully cooperated with prosecutors despite various threats on his life. But he could see time deducted if he provides further cooperation.

The most famous athlete emerging from the Biogenesis scandal was New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez: who was given the heftiest suspension thus far for steroid use, a full season away from the sport. Both him and Bosch are likely to testify if the criminal cases against Yuri Sucart and Lazaro Collazo go forward in April.
