Andrew Luck Returns To Lucas Oil Stadium After Retirement

Andrew Luck went on his early retirement six weeks ago in early, shocking and widely debatable fashion. But apparently he can’t stay away from the team.

Luck was seen at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis posing for pictures with his replacement Jacoby Brissett and actor/comedian Mike Epps. For his part, Luck states that Indianapolis is their home to stay.

“My wife and I are so proud when people ask us where we’re from and we say Indianapolis,” Luck said. “It’s our home; we’ve made lifelong friends. This has been an incredible place to make a home and grow off the field and … Riley camps around the state. Going to the hospital. Getting a chance to talk with parents … reading to kids at schools … hanging out … children’s museum, the wonderful things they do there. A big thank you to this city. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart.”

Why Luck hasn’t taken a job with the team as a coach or adviser is a mystery. Apparently he texts and eats with Brissett since his departure. Many coaches and players had stated publicly that they keep in contact with Luck as well.

Anthony Castonzo and T.Y. Hilton as well as Eric Ebron have all said he keeps in contact. Sometimes about football, sometimes not. “When we text, it’s usually like, ‘Hey, good game,’ or I just see what he’s up to,” Ebron said recently. “I try not to talk football. It’s obvious he didn’t want to be around it, so there’s no point in bringing it up.”

For his part, Hilton stated that what made Luck walk away from football is still there and he does not see him returning. “No, he didn’t need football, but he loved the game,” Hilton said. “Whatever he did, he loved doing it. He always put his heart into what he was doing.”

The Colts have won against some NFL heavyweights, most recently beating heavy favorites Kansas City Chiefs. They play a good team in the Houston Texans this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

They’re going to need all the Luck they can…oh, wait! Never mind.
