Andre Iguodala Returns To Golden State, Receives A Tribute From Former Team

On Monday, February 10, former Golden State Warrior Andre Iguodala was welcomed by his former team and received a pregame video tribute that was shown on the scoreboard.

This was the first time the 36-year-old veteran was in the Bay Area since last summer when Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies to clear up cap space. Iguodala played six seasons with the Golden State Warriors, helping them win three NBA Championships and was named the NBA Finals MVP in the 2014-2015 postseason. Now after recently being traded to Miami at the trade deadline, he was able to return and play his former team at the Chase Center.

Iguodala was showed much appreciation from the video tribute by the Warriors and his former teammates. Iguodala gave a brief speech after the tribute.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everybody that supported us, supported me during my entire time here,” Iguodala said. “It definitely feels like home every time I’m here… Really appreciate you guys and appreciate you all being loyal Bay Area fans.”

Prior to Iguodala’s speech, his former teammate Klay Thompson also gave a brief speech of appreciation on the behalf of the Warriors organization and his teammates.

“Obviously it is a special night for Dub Nation,” said Thompson, “We’ve got one of the greatest Warriors in the history of the organization back. We can call him the Swiss Army Knife. One of my favorite teammates of all time. He made me, Steph [Curry], Draymond [Green] and [Kevon] Looney’s job so much easier, as well as the coach [Steve] Kerr and all of the coaching staff. So we’re indebted to this man for what he gave us. And it’s good to have you back Dre. And I can’t wait to see your jersey in these rafters one of these days, bro.”

Iguodala went plus-25 only playing 17 minutes, however, only scored two points in the 113-101 Heat victory over the Warriors.
