Alshon Jeffery Signs $14M, One-Year Deal With Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have landed a top wide receiver on the first day of free agency, March 9.
Alshon Jeffrey, Eagles Agree to One-Year, $14M Deal
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday— the first day of the new NFL league year— that Alshon Jeffery has signed a one-year deal with the Eagles worth $14 million. The team also announced the move.
After playing on the franchise tag for $14.6 million last season, the former Chicago Bears wideout was unable to find a team prepared to give him a long-term contract. Jeffery’s injuries, along with the fact he was suspended for four games last season, were among the reasons for this, Rapoport said on NFL Network’s Free Agency Frenzy.
Jeffery did, however, recently reject a multi-year deal from the Minnesota Vikings, Rapoport added.

The receiver is coming off two disappointing seasons, recording less than 900 yards receiving each year and only six total touchdowns while missing 11 games due to injury and a suspension. Jeffery had perhaps his best season in 2014, when he compiled 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns.
This offseason, the Eagles are seeking to improve one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL and seem on track to fulfilling this with the signings of Jeffery and Torrey Smith on Thursday. Both players should serve as strong play options for quarterback Carson Wentz, who was a rookie last season.
Philadelphia also agreed to a one-year deal with guard Chance Warmack. The former 2013 first-round pick played his first four years with the Tennessee Titans. Warmack was placed on injured reserve last season after he underwent surgery on his right hand.
