Alex Rodriguez Apologizes To Yankees Upper Management

It appears that infamous Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez wants to move past his disastrous 2014 Biogenesis scandal and play baseball. Yesterday, he met with the Yankees upper management to profusely apologize for his actions and conduct during 2013-14.

In a press release from the New York Yankees, “Alex initiated the meeting and apologized to the organization for his actions over the past several years. There was an honest and frank discussion on all of the issues. As far as the Yankees are concerned, the next step is to play baseball in spring training.”

According to the New York Daily News, the meeting did contain a lot of groveling by the former MLB all-star. The Yankees, who were upset by the accusations directed towards the MLB and the storied franchise, made it clear that they refused to pay him his home run bonuses.

In Rodriguez’s original contract, he was promised an additional $6 million for every name he passed on the all-time home runs list: at 654, he is six home runs away from Willie Mays and still sits behind Babe Ruth (714), Hank Aaron (755) and Barry Bonds (762). The Yankees claim that this contract — separate from his player deal — was based on marketing the milestone, which has lost its appeal since A-Rod has been caught using steroids multiple times now. It is unclear whether the slugger will attempt to challenge New York’s decision.

On top of this, the Daily News’ source stated, his actions against the team — both the lawsuit against Yankee team doctors and his accusation that the Biogenesis case was a witch hunt designed by the Yankees and Bud Selig  will not be forgotten: also, they suggest he make a formal apology to the fans before the start of training camp later this month.
