After Missing Days Of Minicamp, Aaron Rodgers Proves Himself During Team Practice

Aaron Rodgers is showing the Jets that he still has some left in the tank – he found receiver Garrett Wilson along the sidelines on the first play of practice, causing fans in attendance to erupt. Rodgers took the time to display some mobility by rolling right to extend a play, throwing a strike to Breece Hall. Tyler Conklin caught a fourth-down pass from A-Rod to move the sticks, setting up Allen Lazard for a walk-off touchdown grab. The signal caller completed nine for 12  passes in team periods while going three for three during a seven-on-seven period.

Rodgers’ stellar outing at practice is what the Jets need to get over the hump. Zach Wilson, Trevor Sieman and Tim Boyle took turns playing under center during Rodgers’ injury – as a result of their subpar play, the Jets were last in the league in red zone scoring percentage at 32.4 percent.

“As a safety back there in the middle, he tests me in all types of ways, making you play true to your technique,” said Chuck Clark. Clark is familiar with practicing against an MVP quarterback as he spent five seasons with Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

Rookie quarterback Jordan Travis is recovering from a broken leg injury that he suffered in November 2023 during Florida State’s playoff push, so it will take a little longer for him to be activated.

In the meantime, Ben Bryant and Andrew Peasley will compete for the third-string job. Offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker made his debut during practice while Morgan Moses is expected to return next week.

Rodgers was heavily criticized for missing days of minicamp to take a trip to Egypt.
