After five-star running back Savion Hiter officially committed to the University of Michigan last week, the team’s coaching staff is mulling how they can best use him.
Hiter, from Virginia, is ranked as the No. 1 running back in the country and eighth overall for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite. He joins fellow five-star recruit Carter Meadows at Michigan, who committed a day earlier.

Sherrone Moore, who is finishing his second full season as Michigan’s head coach, is confident Hiter can bring a big impact for the team in the upcoming years.
“I don’t want to put too much on him,” Moore said on the In the Trenches Podcast. “To start, I want him to be him. But he’s electric. His highlight film, you watch it, he had a six-game highlight film, and he had 55 carries for 1,110 yards with like 15 touchdowns. He averaged 20 yards a carry, it’s like a video game, right?
“So he’s an elite specimen, physically, a great human being, so we’ll see. We’ll see exactly what he does when he gets here. But I imagine he’s going to be an immediate impact for us.”
