Aaron Rodger’s No-Show At Jets’ Minicamp Due To Egypt Vacation

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a no-show at the Jets’ mandatory minicamp on June 10. According to SNY, Rodgers missed minicamp due to a planned trip to Egypt. The signal caller booked the getaway while recovering from his 2023 Achilles tear. Connor Hughes remarked that Rodgers wanted “something to look forward to during one of the lowest points in his career” while saying that Rodgers “has long admired Egyptian culture.”

Rodgers assumed that his team would conclude offseason programs by the time he landed in Egypt, and the Jets were notified of the schedule overlap, as the minicamp was planned for June 11 and 12.

Coach Robert Saleh told reporters that Rodgers was attending an event of personal importance despite later deeming the 40-year-old’s absence “unexcused.”

Rodgers was seen hanging out with Marques-Valdes Scantling in Los Angeles, running routes at a local high school.

However, the organization wasn’t concerned about the signal caller’s absence from the minicamp. Multiple players had no issues with the vacation, and the owner didn’t want to set “a precedent for players missing mandatory workouts for pre-planned trips.”

Owner Woody Johnson noted Rodger’s presence during voluntary workouts before the minicamp. Haason Reddick was also a no-show at minicamp due to a contract holdout.

New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman criticized Rodgers for his absence. “I think it’s a bad look for your leader, for whatever reason, to go and miss an unexcused absence,” Edelman said during an appearance on The Herd. “I was with Tom Brady in his 23rd or 25th year, and he started missing OTAs here and there but never missed a mandatory minicamp. I just thought it was a bad look.”

Rodgers is expected to return in time for training camp later this month.
