U.S. Men’s Soccer Loses To Costa Rica In Friendly Game

The future does not look promising for the U.S. Men’s National Team as they have been losing friendly matches in preparation for the 2018 World Cup qualifying matches. After a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Mexico over the weekend at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.,, the team lost again last night to Costa Rica in a 1-0 loss in Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.

The only goal of the match came during the 70th minute from forward Joel Campbell who zipped it right past for diving U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard. The U.S. only had three shots on goal against Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas and clearly did not have a setup plan for execution throughout the game.

With World Cup qualifying matches beginning in November, U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann (pictured) has been under some scrutiny from fans for his team’s problems that has been haunting them throughout the summer but he assures that there is light at the end of the tunnel. “There are not only sunshine days,” said Klinsmann. “We had a lot of sunshine in 2012, 2013, 2014. Now it’s raining a little bit. You’ve got to go through that. Maybe you have to go through a little bit of mud as well.”
