Update: Alleged Violent Video of Dez Bryant Being Floated Around to Media Outlets – Reports
Update #2: Supposedly the Wal-Mart incident is different from the one seen on the alleged tape: TMZ reported that a 2011 altercation happened in the parking lot between Bryant’s longtime girlfriend and an unidentified male — no charges were filed. No word if this tape is real or just the product of the Internet.
Update: Adam Schefter talked about alleged video: “I’ve been working on [Dez Bryant story] since September.”
In one of the weirdest news stories in quite some time, there is an alleged violent video of Dez Bryant that is supposedly going to be released sometime today. According to various reports, screenshots of the video, which some are claiming is worse than the Ray Rice incident, have been making their rounds to various media outlets: and the release of this could mean Bryant’s career.

Still, while various places have been reporting it, it is important to take this news with a grain of salt; the information of a potential video has led to rampant speculation — something worsened by Bryant’s prior off-the-field problems.
As Larry Brown Sports stated, “while we have no idea if the footage actually exists or is a complete fabrication, we do know that a report from several months ago indicated that the Cowboys are concerned about Bryant’s off-field behavior.”
Again, as much as the media does not know the truth behind these allegations, there are still places claiming the validity in them: particularly random sports blogs, Mike Florio and a music producer Jaywan — hence the need to see the video before jumping to a conclusion.
Mike Florio, the founder of Pro Football Talk, went on 105.3 The Fan last week to talk about this tape: “It’s one of the best kept secrets in the media. A story that all of the major insiders know about — known about it for months — involving a video tape. And the Cowboys are aware of it. Because of that and possible other reasons the Cowboys have been very reluctant to commit major money to him. I don’t know that the video does exist — it relates to off-field concerns — that’s just the chatter. That there’s video, and the Cowboys are afraid it will come out and have a Ray Rice-like type of an impact.” On Friday, Dez tweeted out this odd cryptic message, with many speculating it was about this report.
Soon, sports blog Terez Owens claimed, “According to our source, the Cowboys haven’t done a huge deal with Dez because of concern over the video. Unfortunately, Bryant’s team won’t be able to stop the tape from getting out to the public. Of course, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones denies knowledge of such a video. This is going to be a game changer for the Cowboys future.”
They later updated, “We’re being told the Cowboys have warned Dez the tape is going to be released, and from someone who has seen it, that it’s five times worse than the Ray Rice Video. His football career is in jeopardy according to our source.”
Later yesterday, a website called IBN Sports Wrap released information claiming “Dez Bryant could be part of “Shakedown” scheme led by two former friends/associates that claim to have proof of this domestic incident involving Mr. Bryant and a young lady whose identity is still not known. According to sources… these two associates already contacted Dez Bryant and tried to sell him the tape for a large sum of money, also TMZ has been contacted by these individuals.”
And even the Grammy nominated producer of Young Jeezy, 2chainz and Twista, Jaywan, tweeted a tirade about seeing screenshots of the alleged incident.
Again, this is all just speculation at the moment, but to simplify all of these stories, there may or may not be a video of Dez Bryant physically assaulting a woman at Wal-Mart.
If it happened or it did not, it is just strange that this type of incident, which is being called worse than Ray Rice, could have been swept under the rug at such a public place: especially in the day and age of social media. Still, all uSports can do is lay out the facts and wait to see if there actually is some type of video: so before everyone calls for the wide receiver’s head just yet, let’s see if there is any actual evidence behind these accusations.
