Houston Texans 2024-2025 Season Outlook – Schedule & Ticket Deals

The Texans were ahead of schedule last season, winning the AFC South with a 10-7 record. 2023 was supposed to be another rebuilding year for Houston since they came into the season with a 3-13-1 record and with a rookie head coach and quarterback. C.J. Stroud won the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, throwing for over 4,100 yards while tossing 23 touchdowns and five interceptions. Coach DeMeco Ryans started 0-2 but coached his Texans to win 10 out of the last 15 games to make the playoffs. Ryans’ Texans thrashed the Cleveland Browns 45-14 in the wild-card game, but they would fall to the Ravens the next round.

Feeling motivated after 2023’s surprise season, Houston went all-out to improve their team. This offseason was headlined by two trades – Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon. Diggs was acquired from Buffalo to provide an elite receiver Stroud can throw, while Mixon provides leadership to the running back position. Defensive end Danielle Hunter joined the Texans to bolster the pass rush. Houston made “under the radar” signings such as Jeff OkudahDerek Barnett and Del’Shawn Phillips.

Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter was picked 42nd overall in hopes that he could slide alongside Derek Stingley Jr. Cade Stover joins his former signal caller as a backup to tight end Dalton Schultz.

Houston travels to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in week 16. Annual meetings with their AFC South foes Colts, Titans, and Jaguars are pivotal since the AFC South has been known to be unpredictable.

Houston is expected to be a playoff contender and some analysts believe that they can be a Super Bowl finalist. However, success depends on an all-out effort from both sides of the ball – Diggs would need to produce, same with Tank Dell to provide an effective passing game. The defense would need to hold up and hope that Hunter and Stingley Jr. can be effective leaders to help other players play well.
