Heat Sign Haywood Highsmith To Three-Year Contract
On Monday, the Miami Heat signed Haywood Highsmith to a three-year deal, which will include at least one team option.
Monday marked the final day of the 25-year-old’s third total 10-day contract in Miami; it was also the second consecutive 10-day pact, which meant the team had to either release him outright, sign him to a two-way contract, or sign him to a traditional contract. The latter of which they chose.
Highsmith signed his first 10-day contract with Miami on December 30 as the Omicron variant was running rampant throughout the league (and, of course, elsewhere). In 10 games with the Heat this year, he’s averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.3 minutes.
The Wheeling University product made his NBA debut on January 8, 2019, with the Philadelphia 76ers, after going undrafted.
Throughout his career, he’s played in 15 games with the Heat and Sixers, while averaging 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.9 minutes.
