Brewery Takes Jabs At Houston Astros Cheating Scandal With ‘Trash Can Banger’ Beer
One of the biggest questions entering the 2020 MLB season was how will the Houston Astros be received by the fans, both in Houston and on the road after the team’s sign stealing scandal during the 2017 season primarily, during which season they won the World Series. Despite there not being any games played so far this regular season, that doesn’t mean that fans have stopped ribbing on the Astros.
A beer company in Jersey City, New Jersey took a shot at the Astros unveiling a new beer, aptly called Trash Can Banger. The can resemble that of the Astros’ jerseys in the 70s and 80s with the color scheme as well as font.
Yesterday the Washington Nationals unveiled their championship rings and today my new favorite brewery, @DepartedSoles, released Trash Can Banger, the perfect victory beer to keep the celebration going. This week is not the suck. pic.twitter.com/b81qXcLC40

In speaking with NJ.com, owner and head brewer of Departed Soles, who made the beer, Brian Kulbacki kept it simple as to why he created this specific beer. “I’m not a fan of cheaters,” he said.
As of this time, the beer can only be sold in New Jersey, but Kulbacki is looking for ways to sell it in Texas to raise money for charity. “We’re desperate for anything to talk about other than a pandemic right now,” he said. “So we thought it was an opportune time to put out a beer.”
