Novak Djokovic Advances To Australian Open Final With Win Over Roger Federer
Novak Djokovic will be appearing in his sixth Australian Open final after cleanly dispatching Roger Federer 6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3 at Melbourne Park. He has now beaten the Swiss star in three consecutive Grand Slam finals.
Djokovic was on top early, breaking Federer twice in the opening three games; the set was wrapped up in under 25 minutes. The second game followed suit.
“I played unbelievably in the first two sets but I needed to because Roger has been playing unbelievably and I knew he would be aggressive,” Djokovic said.
Fortunes changed slightly when Federer finally broke through, winning the third set but, when push came to shove, the Serbian was simply too much.”My rhythm, my timing, all that, was a bit off in the beginning,” said Federer. “He took advantage of that and did an unbelievable job for a long, long time tonight.”

Djokovic will now face either Andy Murray or Milos Raonic in Sunday’s final. Based on his form, it will take a world-class performance for either of those players to defeat him.
