Clay Matthews Offers Hand To Carson Palmer, Pulls Hand Away Instead

The Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals were in the middle of a somewhat close matchup during the late afternoon game, when a funny thing happened.

During the second quarter with the Cardinals up 10-0, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews knocked down Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer after a red-zone pass attempt was incomplete. At first, Matthews had offered his hand to help the quarterback up and when Palmer obliged to the hand, Matthews pulled his hand suddenly, resulting in Palmer having to get up himself.

With this moment, Palmer took matters into his own hands and completed a touchdown pass to wide receiver John Brown on the next play and giving the Cardinals a 17-0 lead. This lead by the Cardinals would continue to grow larger as the Cardinals routed the Packers in a 38-8 win in Glendale. Palmer would finish the day with 265 passing yards and two touchdowns and seal the No. 2 seed for the postseason.
