In November 2005, NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police found a crack pipe in Irvin’s car after pulling him over for speeding. Irvin said the crack pipe was one of his friends, and he had it to help the person overcome a drug addiction.

Irvin was charged with a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, which is a class C misdemeanor punishable by up to $500 in fines. He paid a fine for the charge.

Irvin attended the University of Miami, where he won a national championship in 1987. He entered the 1988 NFL Draft and was selected with the 11th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys.

During Irvin’s 12-year NFL career, he won three Super Bowls, was a first-team All-Pro once, a second-team All-Pro twice, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and was inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Irvin retired in July 2000, due to a spinal cord injury he suffered in the previous season against the Philadelphia Eagles.
