The future looks bright in Beantown—at least on the baseball diamond: The Red Sox won 92 games last year and made it to the ALCS before bowing out in six games to the Astros. In addition, they’ve won two of the past nine World Series, with the most recent title coming in 2018.

Their big-splash free-agent signing this offseason was shortstop Trevor Story, who inked a six-year, $140 million deal with the club after declining the Rockies’ qualifying offer.

However, team ace Chris Sale landed on the 60-day injured list with a rib cage injury. Nathan Eovaldi will step in in his absence.

The team was set to open the 2022 season in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, but rain has moved that to Friday. After New York, they’ll go to Detroit for three games before their home opener on April 15 against the Twins.

The Red Sox’ second half begins at Fenway Park on July 22 with a three-game set against the Blue Jays before Cleveland comes to town for four games. They’ll close out the season with three at home against the Rays.
