The New York Yankees will host the Houston Astros on Tuesday night for the second game of a three-game series, and here is what you need to know.
The Yankees lost the opener 5-1 in New York on Monday. Justin Verlander threw 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in the defending champion Astros’ Memorial Day victory. This year, the Bombers are 3-2 against Houston. Greg Bird scored the only run for the hosts on Monday. Giancarlo Stanton sat out. Gleyber Torres struck out twice.
Domingo German had a much stronger outing on Monday, after the second-year Yankees right-hander gave up six runs in each of his previous two games. On Monday, he allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. German fanned seven batters and walked two.
On Tuesday, CC Sabathia (2-1, 3.55 ERA) is set to start for the Yankees against Charlie Morton (7-0, 2.04 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm EST, and the game will air on MLB Network.
