Will Marshawn Lynch Retire?

After all of his shenanigans with the media, Marshawn Lynch has cruised into the offseason uncertain about his NFL future: countless sources have claimed it is extremely possible that Lynch would possibly retire in the offseason. A rumor that started with GM John Schneider, but was later confirmed by teammate Michael Robinson.

Lynch has had a horrendous relationship with the NFL, who has fined him excessively for media violations and obscene gestures; on top of this, the toll of playing in the league for eight years is also another factor to consider — he may have beast mode, but he is still human. So as he is coming into his final year of his four year $30 million deal, the possibility of retirement remains an ever-present thought in the famous running back’s mind.

Of course, the Seahawks want to re-sign him because he has played a key role in their two Super Bowl appearances the last two years. And in the past three seasons, he has rushed for over 4,000 yards, garnered 43 total touchdowns and averaged 4.6 YPC.

It has even been reported that the night before the Super Bowl, the Seahawks offered Marshawn Lynch a huge contract extension. According to Ian Rapoport, while the particulars have not been disclosed, it reportedly paid Marshawn Lynch $10 million for 2015 alone. But since then, the superstar has remained quiet on the matter: mulling over his monumental decision.

All Seattle can do right now is hope and wait: they are expecting an answer — or at least hope for one — from Lynch by March 10, which is the day free agent signing begins.
