Jordan Spieth tossed the ceremonial first pitch at the Chicago Cubs‘ game against the New York Mets at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old former World No. 1 golfer — who threw his pitch left-handed — has now thrown out three first pitches after performing the honors for the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.
“It’s an honor to go out there,” said Spieth, who won his third major at the British Open in July. “People wonder how you can … wear the jerseys of all three teams. It’s great when they reach out and ask to go do it. It’s a tremendous opportunity and get to hang out with some baseball players I’m huge fans of. Last night I got to hang out with some of the Cubs guys, the heroes of Chicago from what they did last year winning the World Series.”
“The only way you end up on ESPN is if you really screw this one up,” the Dallas, Texas native added. “I kind of bailed a little high, but definitely was nervous walking out there.”
