LOS ANGELES, CA - JULY 30: Kyle Farmer #65 of the Los Angeles Dodgers, in his first Major League at-bat, rounds first base after hitting the game winning double to score teammate Corey Seager #5 and Justin Turner #10 against the San Francisco Giants in the 11th inning at Dodger Stadium Stadium July 30, 2017, in Los Angeles, California.
Former Georgia baseball player Kyle Farmer had quite an impressive major league debut on Sunday.
The 26-year-old rookie Los Angeles Dodgers catcher smacked a walk-off double down the right field line in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give his team a 3-2 home victory over the San Francisco Giants. Farmer’s hit came off Giants right-hander Albert Suarez.
The pinch-hit appearance came with runners on first and second base, and one out in the frame.
The comeback win — the closer of a three-game series — marked the Dodgers’ (74-31) eighth straight victory. Los Angeles is 14 games ahead of second-place Arizona for the National League West lead, and also lead the NL by 11 games.

Farmer is the Dodgers’ No. 29 prospect, according to MLB.com, and had been performing great in the minors before he was promoted on Friday. In 81 games between Double-A and Triple-A, he hit .326 with nine home runs and 20 doubles.
Farmer was selected by the Dodgers as an eighth-round draft pick in 2013. He started at shortstop for four years at Georgia before transitioning to catcher in his professional career. He joins two other former Georgia Bulldogs on the Dodgers’ roster: pitchers Alex Wood and Josh Fields.
The rookie also made Dodgers franchise history, according to ESPN Stats & Info:
The Dodgers next visit the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday at 7:35 pm EST for the opener of a three-game series.
