On Wednesday night, the Tampa Bay Rays edged out the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in game two of the World Series to tie the count at 1. This tight win was thanks, in most part, to the superb hitting of Brandon Lowe who had been in a bit of a slump up until this point in the playoffs. That slump broke in game two with Lowe hitting two home runs in five at-bats, driving in three total runs. After coming in as a rougher prospect, Lowe has become one of the better hitters in the MLB and his skills were on full display Wednesday night.
“Yeah, those felt really good,” Lowe said. “It felt great to kind of get back and contribute to the team. They’ve been doing so well for the past month. It felt really good to get back and actually start doing stuff again.”
Lowe, who was a low-ballot MVP candidate this year, was a brutal 6 for 56 with 19 strikeouts and no multi-hit games so far this postseason. He certainly picked an opportune time to break out of this funk.

“The biggest reason that makes us all believe it is he’s shown over time that he’s a really good hitter, really good player, and sometimes guys, you got to let them go through some tough patches, and he’s been in one,” Rays’ manager Kevin Cash said after Wednesday’s win. “It was exciting for the first home run. The second one really ignited them. You’ve seen it. You’ve covered him. He can go quiet for a little while, but he can get as hot as anybody in baseball. Hopefully, that’s the trend that we’re looking at going forward.”
Game three is on Friday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
