Warriors’ Draymond Green Makes Game-Winning Stop, Warriors up 3-1 – But Should He Even Have Been In The Game?

The Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets 109-106 to go up 3-1 in the series. The game-winning stop was made by the Warriors’ Draymond Green, who arguably shouldn’t have been allowed in the game.

Green earned a technical foul early in the second quarter when he set a hard screen on Amen Thompson. A skirmish followed and Green earned the technical foul along with Steph Curry and Dillon Brooks.

Later in the quarter, Green got into another fight with Tari Eason over a loose ball. It looked like a clear-cut double technical foul on first look. However, the referees decided asses Green with a flagrant foul instead, while Eason was assessed a technical.

A second technical would have ejected Green from the game.

“I got a technical tonight and there were guys way more aggressive than me,” Green said. “Yeah, that’s crazy.”

The referee’s decision mattered down the stretch. With 13 seconds left and the Rockets down one point, they elected to go to star big man Alperen Sengun, who already had 31 points.

Green drew the assignment.

The former defensive player of the year got the stop on Sengun, getting the Warriors the win and just one win away from advancing to the conference semifinals.

Game five is on Wednesday in Houston. The Warriors are searching for the gentlemen’s sweep.
