VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: US Olympic Skier Ryan Cochran-Siegle On Previous Injuries, Superstitions

Team USA alpine skier, Ryan Cochran-Siegle, is returning to the mountains this year in the Beijing Olympic Games.

Last season, Cochran-Siegle injured his neck. He had surgery in February of 2021 and managed to go back to training by that August. He has since made a full recovery and is ready to compete.

“I feel like my level of skiing that I had prior I can still obtain right now and that’s kind of my goal this season to get back to that competitiveness,” he said.

Cochran-Siegle used to have many superstitions to help him perform better but has since decided he no longer needs them.

“I used to be very superstitious growing up. I would have weird things like I didn’t like to look at myself in the mirror on race day,” he said. “But since then I’ve tried to get out of those habits, you try to get yourself in the mental space where you could just focus on skiing and performing, not worrying about things that are out of your control.”
